We have now finished our overland tour and staying a few days in Cape Town. It's a great city, really like the atmosphere (apart the constant begin) ,there is plenty to do.
We spent the first day doing some admin, planing the next leg of the trip, catching up with friends and family as well as sorting the pictures, nothing exiting. The next day we had booked the tickets for Robeen Island, with Jan, James and Lianne. It was a very emotional day, we started the visit by a bus drive around the prison with a guide explaining all the facilities and history. The second part was visiting the inside, guided by a former political prisoner; we had a very good insight of what happened here, it's scary that the apartheid "ended" in 1994. We had a bit more informations the next day when we went to visit the District 6 museum, breaking down families, stigmatising the original habitants, prosecuting all opponent to the regime... It's been a very emotional 2 days!
3rd day: Table mountain here we come! Today we decided to see it as the sky was clear, most of the people take a cab to the cable car, but not us... We decided to walk the stiff hill, it was good at first but lost the track and had to walk across a lot of spiky bushes (Emma legs remember that moment) to catch up the road. Once arrived on the road, after a few minutes, a car stopped; it was Jan and James laughing: "what are you doing here?" At the top of the mountain it was around 10 degree celsius and of course to continue the good launch of the day we were in T-shirt, it was freezing with the wind blowing crazy. It did not stopped us to appreciate the landscape and the views.
